OSWCU Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy at OSWCU. We will not collect any personal information from you that you do not volunteer. Our web site only logs IP addresses as part of its statistics gathering process, and we are the sole owner of any information collected. We do not sell or rent this information to others in any way.

Cookies
As you probably know, cookies are small pieces of information that some Web sites store on your computer's hard drive when you visit them. OSWCU does not collect nor place cookies. TMC.ORG, who hosts the OSWCU web site, may collect cookies, but that is beyond our control. If some future feature is added to the OSWCU web site that requires cookies to operate properly, you will be notified before entering that area of the site.

Security
We use reasonable precautions to keep the personal information you disclose, to both our officers and website, secure. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security.

Obtaining your consent
By using our Web site, you give OSWCU permission to collect information about the pages served to you as an anonymous user for the purpose of calculating aggregate site statistics. We will not divulge to outside parties your email address, phone number, where you work or other personal information we may have unless we get permission from you first. People requesting email addresses, phone numbers or addresses for the purpose of trying to contact you (for any reason) will have their request forwarded to you so that you can determine to reply or not.

Exception to this policy
There will be times where we will publish names and email addresses of meeting presenters and other pertinent information as part of meeting minutes. We may also post pictures and information about OSWCU meetings or events. In these particular cases, if requested, we will either remove names and/or pictures or not post them. In addition, there may be instances where OSWCU will compare email lists with TMC.ORG. This will be for the sake of eliminating duplicate names on meeting notification emails. You will always have the option of being removed from our email lists.

Email format on OSWCU web pages and SPAM
We realize that SPAM (unsolicited emails) can be a problem for some of our users. People who SPAM generally collect email addresses by the use of "bots" or programs that scour web sites for any published email address. Because of this factor, if OSWCU publishes a member's email address, it will be with a substitute word for the "@" sign. Henceforth, email addresses, when published, will appear as:

name "at" host.domain
instead of name@host.domain
