Meeting Minutes:

Doug Persson, Chairman of OSWCU, opened the second meeting of 2003 at 5:30 P.M. on April 14, 2003. in a classroom at Chemeketa Community College. Attendees included a mix of working people and students enrolled in the civil engineering technology program at Chemeketa. Doug introduced himself (Chairperson), John Volk (Vice Chairperson) Tina Chee (Treasurer), and Lesli Merhaut. (Secretary). Then Doug invited the meeting attendees to introduce themselves.

Meeting Business:

  • A welcome to the students that attended
  • People were encouraged to visit the OSWCU web site often since it is kept up to date with any news or happenings on a frequent basis. Using a video projector, John Volk navigated through the web site to demonstrate what one would find.
  • It was emphasized that jobs listings are now posted on the web site and there is one presently available for review.
  • Attendees were asked if any of them had attended the V8 Roadshow that occured in February and what did they think of it. Several people raised their hands and commented that they thought the Roadshowed offered good information. One person expressed some disappointment in that the Roadshow didn't offer anything substantially different than the seminars given when V8 was first released.
The meeting was then opened for questions. Since there were none, Doug turned over the meeting to Tina Chee and Julie Peters (an instructor at Chemeketa), the presenters for the meeting.

A demonstration of Microstation’s Power Selector, Select By Attributes, and Intellitrim commands was given by Jim Culpepper of David Evans and Assoc. Julie Peters demonstrated AutoCAD’s Design Center.

Discussion was made of a few commands not currently available with either CAD package, such as Bi-directional dimensions: when stretching a dimension, the element dimensioned changes size also.

(Sorry, no Meeting Pictures for this date)

Special thanks goes out to Julie Peters for supplying the food and for providing the meeting space and the video projector. Thanks to John Volk for bringing in the Bentley giveaways.
